Methodology & Data Sources

This site brings together publicly available information about Delaware school boards in one place to improve access and understanding. The information presented is descriptive, not evaluative.

  • Board and district information Board member names, roles, terms, and basic district characteristics are collected from district websites and other publicly posted materials. In some cases, background information is supplemented by information provided directly by districts or board members.
  • Academic data Academic indicators, including literacy, math, attendance, and graduation rates, are drawn from publicly reported data published by the Delaware Department of Education, including the state report card. These indicators are presented at a high level to provide context and are not intended to capture the full complexity of district performance.
  • Budget and financial information District budget figures and financial transparency indicators are based on publicly posted district financial documents and disclosures available on district websites.
  • School board meeting information Information about board focus areas and governance practices reflects First State Educate’s review of publicly available school board meeting materials, including agendas, minutes, and recordings. Meeting information is summarized to identify high-level themes and does not assess the quality or outcomes of board decisions.
  • Public engagement practices Information on public comment, virtual meeting access, and committees is drawn from district policies, meeting notices, and other publicly accessible sources.

Because districts vary in how information is posted and updated, some fields may be incomplete or marked as not available. First State Educate welcomes corrections or updated public information.
